IMPROVISING STEVE VAI's STYLE AT THE STUDIO

The Lydian Mode is the most exotically beautiful, mysterious - sometimes even aggressive - scale that exists among the natural modes. Although widely used since Debussy it was in the mid 80's that the Lydian Mode flourished in Cinematic/Film music with all of the extremely interesting melodies John Williams created for Spielberg’s movies. A few years later Joe Satriani and later Steve Vai coined their styles using mostly this mode. Fact is we still love its sound today.

Latin Jazz solo with Ketama - 2012

This Latin flavoured solo is an excerpt from a concert with Ketama in Hollywood, FL in 2012.
Although I'm not a big fan of Latin music It was a huge honor playing for Antonio Carmona and company who appears at the end of the vid playing the cowbell. Ketama at the peak of its career got to be a worldwide renowned band that mixed elements of traditional Gypsy, Rumba and Flamenco with Pop music. Astonishing musicians !

METHIANO - Tribute to Pat Metheny

Composed this piece totally influenced by "Minuano" one of the most beautiful tracks Pat Metheny has ever composed. I was testing for Line6 back then and using the POD HD 500 tried to recreate,using only an audio source, the famous synth tone Pat uses.
I didn't succeed in making that "horn/trumpet like" synth sound but the one used here is quite good and it's a factory preset.
